Hey - I'm killing my sweetooth with sugar-free gum. I excercise a lot now. Sugarfree/aspartame products have less calories than regular but is there any downsides to eating it ? I've read somewhere about it affecting insulin levels but can't remember what it meant.

Hmmmmm.........hopefully Jodi will shed a bit more scientific info on the subject, but I have read a study or two showing insulin levels can be raised simply by the idea you are about to eat something sweet, and that diet cola's etc also do raise it.

Yeah, SF products can raise insulin a bit but unless you are on a serious cut trying to lose bodyfat for a bodybuilding competition, I see nothing wrong with a diet soda and sf gum. Just watch your quantities. I enjoy SF Popsicles. That really helps the sweet tooth too ;)

Thanks for the answers! It got me thinking cos SF soda had me feel like a couch potato after a can! Just like regular soda! :)
