Just some lists I came up with:

Most GP victories:

1. Hoost (16)
2. Aerts (12)
3. Hug (7)
4. Le Banner (5)
5. Cikatic/Bernardo/Filho/Hunt (4)
9. Satake/Sefo/Bonjasky/Musashi (3)

Most GP KO's (counting TKO's):

1. Hoost/Aerts (8)
3. Hug/Le Banner/Cikatic (4)
6. Bernardo (3)
7. Six tied with 2

Top 10 GP Fights:

1. Aerts vs. Le Banner ('99)
2. Hoost vs. Hug ('96)
3. Aerts vs. Bernardo ('96)
4. Hug vs. Greco ('98)
5. Hoost vs. Le Banner ('99)
6. Hug vs. Bernardo ('96)
7. Hoost vs. Aerts ('95)
8. Le Banner vs. Hunt ('02)
9. Hoost vs. Hug ('97)
10. Aerts vs. Abidi ('00)

Top 10 GP KO's:

1. Hunt's punches on Le Banner (2001)
2. Hug's spinning heel kick on Bernardo (1996)
3. Ignashov's knee on Pettas (2001)
4. Aerts' kick on Hug (1998)
5. Le Banner's punch on Aerts (1999)
6. Aerts' kick on Van Esdonk (1994)
7. Hoost's punches on Le Banner (1999)
8. Hoost's kick on Mo Smith (1993)
9. Bernardo's punch on Aerts (1996)
10. Cikatic's punch on Hoost (1993)

Ranking the K-1 tourneys:

1. 1999
2. 1998
3. 1996
4. 1997
5. 1995
6. 2000
7. 1993
8. 1994
9. 2001
10. 2002
11. 2003

Other fun facts: Stefan Leko has NEVER won a K-1 GP match; Andy Hug appeared in three final matches in a row (1996-1998); Aerts fought Bernardo three years in a row (1996-1998); Filho knocked out Sam Greco in eleven seconds for the fastest KO in GP history; Hoost fought Hug to a five round decision in 1996 for the longest match in GP history; All three of Hoost's opponents in 2002 were injured mid-tourney; Hoost won all three of his matches in the 2000 tourney by decision, even more impressive considering his opponent in the final, Sefo, had fought the equivelant of a little more than a round.

Thanks for reading

Great facts and stats. I love stuff like this.

considering Aerts GP participation it looks like he doesn`t have all that great of a record ( 12 wins in 11 GP`s )....

Hoost was very impressive in 2000, though I was more impressed that Sefo went as far as he did on something like 4 days notice.

Also surprised bernardo has only 3 GP KO`s.

Some of those stats really suprised me. I was sure that Aerts had more GP knockouts than Hoost, but numbers don't lie.

I completely agree with your top 10 Ko's, but I think lebanner vs fihlo deserves a place in anyh top 10 ko list.

Other fun facts in terms of 8-man tournaments...

Hoost has won the most K-1 8-man tournaments... a total of 7 tournament victories (4 GP wins among them)

Aerts comes in second with four 8-man tournament wins (3 of them being GPs).

Musashi also tied with four 8-man tournament wins - all them being the Japan GP.

Cant beat Iggy in Paris...

Started the round in one pair of Thai shorts. Then had to change into something without Thai Script.

Silly rule.

We really have to do the "Shorts" article ( o Y o ). Toyed with the idea way back.

Whoa. when was this?

it was one of the 2000 qualifying tournaments. ray ripped his shorts and cyril was in effect wearing a skirt. between rounds he changed his shorts and when he fought filho he was wearing his third pair.

Ah yeah, I remember the skirt incident. Didn`t notice he`d changed for the final again though...

You should do a piece about how switching from his buffalo loin cloth to regular black trunks allowed Botha to defeat Jerome Le Banner. It has to do with the shorts change, that can be no coincidence :D

Thanks for the facts man ;) too bad Leko isn't participating anymore, he could take it IMO.
