I just found out - by coincidence, because I totally forgot he had this fight scheduled - that Tyson lost to Kevin McBride. After the fight he commented that he'd quit boxing because he didn't have the heart for it anymore and he doesn't want to disgrace the boxing sport. If he really means it and actually quits boxing, do you think there is a chance that K-1 could sign him? I mean the situation has definitely changed if you compare it to a couple of months ago where nobody thought of it as a possibility. I mean I don't want to see an unmotivated Tyson getting his ass kicked in K-1, because I'd rather see a well-motivated Tyson getting his ass kicked in K-1, but his name should definitely make K-1 bigger anywhere...

He's still in debt so who knows.

But he really should just call it a day. Who wants to see Musashi 3R JD Tyson?

There are other options for him... I hope.

``I don't have the stomach for this anymore,'' Tyson said. ``I most likely won't fight anymore. I'm not going to disrespect the sport by losing to this caliber of fighters.''

There is quite a lengthy article on sportsnavi now about what it means for K-1...

hmmm. it would do things for k1, the hype would be exponential. tyson himself said at the prefight press conferernce "these people are here because im an international icon"

and it's right.

i'm pretty sure he'd get destroyed in k1, but who knows.

Now in K-1? uhmmm... He would become a kicking bag for top fighters and could only defeat some B-C class ones... Beating Tyson always means something in your records, even if he is now a 'shadow of a washed up Tyson'... Who knows...? He certainly would pack the house, e.g. in a superfight vs JLB or Sefo

Well, since K-1 never managed to even get him into Japan to even do an appearance/interview last time around (didn't he challenge Sapp via a satellite link from Hawaii or something like that?) I'd say his value is greatly diminished as Tyson would probably only be a live event draw in Japan. His ability to actually sell tickets to his shows in the US has decreased massively and as for PPV buys and/or TV ratings, well, he's nothing special. He still gets the media hype but thats about it. I'd guess that would change a little in Japan as the chance to see him live would be a big deal. Also, Tyson doing K-1 in the US would mean little as K-1 don't exactly have that big a name obver there, whereas in Japan they're a huge deal. Really, I suppose it depends whether K-1 have enough stroke to get such a high-profile criminal into the country.

I meant K-1 shows in Japan, of course...

If he would only be used as a promotional tool then I am against it.

The quality of K1 has been lowered in the last 2 years, and now with Stefan Leko and Semmy Schilt looking likely to come back it could mean that we can have the old K1 with real fighters again. Tyson would just turn the whole thing into a big circus.

Just imagine almost ideal Final Elimination:

Bonjasky vs Choi (Seoul)
Musashi vs JLB (WC)
Kaoklai vs Leko (WC)
Botha vs Feitosa (Vegas)
Sefo vs Abidi/Sniper (Vegas II)
Hoost vs Schilt (Paris)
Aerts vs Amada (Hiroshima)
Mo vs Ignashov (Intercontinental)

And then, in the Final, let's say:

Bonjasky vs JLB
Hoost vs Ignashov
Leko vs Aerts
Sefo vs Feitosa

Wow. That would be a card!!!

tyson said it himself, he's broke, so he needs to earn somehow. the main problem is that no cable company would give him a big pay day ever again after that performance against the ordinary McBride(or at least that is what the pundits thought). bottom line is that tyson owes 25 million dollars to the tax man, and he may therefore be forced into k-1.

one thing is certain though, tyson is no botha. he has not got the heart to fight anymore, whereas botha has. that is why tyson will not make the impact that botha has in his time with k-1.

I have no interest in seeing Tyson in K-1 anymore. If he can't even beat B class fighters in his own sport, he has no chance in K-1. He said it himself, his heart isn't in it anymore. He'd probably quit after 1 kick, like Mercer did against Bonjaski. Tyson should just retire from all fighting sports.

I think that the K-1 think would be good for Tyson. He should never fight any reel fighters. Just tomato cans that he can woop easily and look good doing it. If Ali can do Japan so can Tyson.

Is Ali a convicted rapist?

Tyson can't even get into Japan for a holiday, much less a fight.

And somebody said Kevin McBride was "ordinary", no isn't, he's just plain awful.

Tyson would not be able to fight in Japan. He is a Multiple Felon. He wouldn't legally be allowed to work in the country, nor even step foot in Japan from what I know.

Then you have to question if he is able to even work in Las Vegas. I am not sure about this. IT would depend on the commission responsible for overseeing the K-1 event. The LV Boxing commission has had enough of Tyson's antics.

Which leaves - Hawaii? Would he draw there? Is it worth the investment? Would TV ratings be enough or sponserships line up to foot the bill?

Tyson is a bad boxer now. I don't see him being able to bring anything to a K-1 Fight other than name value. He would fit in nicely with the "freaks" but a legitimate K-1 threat? No sir. He wasn't even a threat to Danny Williams or Kevin McBride. And that is sad.
