It is set for July 29th in Hawaii.

Being a GP obviously the winner gets a slot into the Eliminations.

Ray Sefo has been mentioned as a possible headlining Superfight on the card.

And it seems Akebono will also be one of the biggest draws.

This is also where BJ's rumours of fighting Renzo will no doubt take place.

Well, there goes the hopes of no more Akebono,

But, a superfight with Sefo is always a good thing.

I don't get it. Who on earth wants to see Akebono? I mean I know he was born in Hawai and all of that. But now even the most die hard supporters should be aware that Akebono has no business in a K-1 ring.
Bj vs Renzo? Nothing to gain for BJ imho, Renzo is clearly beyond his peak.
Let's see what the Sefo superfight will be like.

I assume K-1 signed Akebono to a very lengthy contract. Plus, his inclusion gives the show a decent local ratings chance on its own.

I hope they don't match Sefo vs Akebono and I wonder if Iggy is given another GP chance...

"Also announced at the press conference was a matchup between American-Japanese former Sumo Grand Champion Akebono and Hong-Man Choi -- the bout set for this July 29 at the Aloha Stadium in Honolulu, Hawaii. The K-1 World GP Intercontinental Tournament will also see the participation of Japanese fighter Musashi and Hawaiian native B.J. Penn -- the opponents for these two will be announced at a later date"

So far is Big Daddy, Carter Williams and McDonald I think. And they are trying hard to get Mike Tyson.

Might as well throw Ignashov on there, seeing as how he hasn't qualified for September yet.

You could do, but I'd be more inclind to think he'll get a free ride due to his knee injury. They NEED someone to beat Semmy at the Eliminations after all.

It is not going to happen, but Graham deserves to be in this, or even Rony Sefo after they stuffed him around at the last one.
