To update on my "hell month" of 3 fights in 4 weeks ( 2 tourneys)

The first one was a total sham I was seeded into the second round But somehow drew a guy that I should have met in the finals! ( I wonder how they do their seeding) So I was out and my chance at going to ALL JAPAN next year also went with it! Nerves were a big part in me losing, I let them get the better of me and they totally stuffed me.

Last weekend (11/21) similar deal. Was seeded and only had to win 3 bouts to be in the final. Won my first 2 fights in record time ( about 30-45 seconds each)
Semi final was a different story and didn't even get a point. I left my body open and he got 2 shots in, each resulting in a point ( 2 points is a win)
So i went in to the fight off for third. looking over at the trophies seeing only one for 1st, 2nd & 3rd places really psyced me up.
The guy was bigger than me and a very strong grappler could get me on the mat easy so I kept my distance throwing jabs and body shots. Copped 3 ( yes 3!) seperate kicks to the "straw huts" all which needed recovery time!
I ended up getting a point by hook to the head and had to defend the last 20 secs just to keep it in my favor as I was running low by then.

End result, I got my first trophy for 3rd & am very stoked!

Congrats mate! Sounds like you had a fight like Nakasako in the Korean Tourny with all those low blows though!!

Good results. Well done man.

Im not a big fan of point-fighting... even though i do it simply out of boredom. Frustrates the hell out of me especially as Im a counter-puncher in my full contact game.

Thanks,
Been a long few weeks. last one this sunday. Saturday should be a good amp up!

Yeah, point fighting has it's downside. I'm also a counter puncher so it sometimes pisses me that a guy can just touch me to get a point when I counter with a nice hook that more than knocks him off his feet.

Happens those things get real tough in the end. Especially when you fight a speed demon.
