You mean 34% picked Abidi as the MVP despite losing and headbutting? He may be a reasonable choice for #2 but if 34% are saying he put on the best performance,.......

Well, there are at least 4 headbutts in round two that could easily be blamed on LeBanner which come before the first deliberate one Abidi lands. Hell, the first down LeBanner scores he gets from a headbutt.
But at the end of the day, you know winning isn`t what gets the Japanese fans going, but showing heart and never giving up....which they both managed. Far more so than anyone else on the card.

I think the JLB-Abidi war was still heavily on the minds of the audience while the final was going....

His style just isn`t popular.

I feel a bit sorry for Semmy with three KO's, but I guess from a viewers perspective LeBanner vs. Abidi really did steal the show.

I think the reason people don't give him any credit is because he didn't meet Ignashov in the finals. He got destroyed by him last year so he was expected to meet him in the finals and gain redemtion. Iggy not making it to the finals is no fault of Schilt, but it does make it seem like he fought a bunch of bums to win the tournament. Cyril on the other hand was in one of the best fights in K-1 history against one of the best fighters in K-1 history. So I see why the fans would choose the herorics of Cyril getting up everytime vs Schilt's attack of the bums.

Kakuda spoke a bit of French, that's always a good way to get up their chauvinistic behinds ;)
