View Full Version : K-1 Grand Prix Prediction Competition!!
( o Y o )
25th November 2004, 01:01 PM
2004 Grand Prix Prediction Competition is open for your posts. The only stipulation being you must have a minimum of 10 posts at the time you post your prediction in here. (Post-whoring to get those 10 will get the posts, your entry, or your account deleted) This is to prevent new members from signing up just for the competition (single post), and maintain a good relationship with our current members by giving something back to them. For those of you coming to this site for the first time, there are still several days in which you can easily get 10 posts and contribute to the community here. Note that for new and/or less active members, we will validate that the 10 posts are not just fillers. That's it.
To win is simple, you just need to state who will be crowned the K-1 Champion of 2004.
To reduce the number of people with exactly the same prediction, you will need to provide information as follows.
1. Remy Bonjasky vs. Musashi
WINNER: Remy Bonjasky
METHOD: KO
ROUND: 2
TIME: 2:28
2a. Musashi vs Peter Aerts
WINNER: Musashi
METHOD: JD
2b. Remy Bonjasky vs Cyril Abidi
WINNER: Remy Bonjasky
METHOD: KO
ROUND: 1
TIME: 1:44
This would be a near perfect prediction other than the ending METHOD of the final fight. As you can see, you need to not only chose who will win it all, but the fight that leads both he and his oponent to the final.
If you are confused or have any questions please see this thread and if not already answered, feel free to ask there. No questions in this thread to save any further confusion. (http://forum.kakutougi.info/showthread.php?t=162)
Here are those fighting.

Rules:
*You MUST list all 3 fights or your post will not be counted.
*You must fill out both sections (for JD) for all 3 fights, or all four sections if you believe it will end by KO/TKO.
*"Time" refers to the number of minutes into the round as it is listed on the official K-1 homepage, not the number of minutes left in the round.
*You can post only once in this thread. Posting more than once, or with more than one account will lead to those posts not being counted.
*You can edit up until the start of the event. Editing even 1 minute into the starting time of the event will void your post.
*Points will be scored by choosing the correct:
Grand Prix winner: 20 points
A and B bracket winners: 10 points each
Method: 5 points
Round: 2 points
Time: 1 point
*You must pick the correct winner to be eligible to score points from picking the correct method.
*You must pick the correct method to be eligible to score points from picking the correct round.
*You must pick the correct round to be eligible to score points from picking the correct time. HOWEVER, points for "Time" will only be counted in the event of a tie.
*In the event two or more people happen to score exactly the same amount of points, even after factoring in the "Time" points, the person that posted first will be considered the winner.
The Prizes:
First Prize (pictured in this post) is a brand new, limited edition, numbered Andy Hug Memorial Zippo Lighter in a display case, and your choice of one (1) K-1 figure. You may choose from Sefo, Bernardo, Aerts, Bonjasky, Filho or Greco. ( the figures are all new though depending on the postage location, may not come with the box due to its size )

I am going to highlight these 3 points one more time. This really is NOT hard to understand, just read the first post before replying and you`ll be able to enter without any problems at all.

Aka, what you have done is not legit. Rules state you need to have 10 posts to ENTER the competition. You did not have 10 posts. Then you proceed to post one-liners, of which at least one broke against the rules of minding your language, and it is already too late. In addition, it is very inappropriate to do something similar. We wanted to prevent people from signing up for just the competition, and hereso we're doing that in retrospect:
aka's entry is void.
ziggy's entry is void.
Do not attempt to participate in this competition again please. Spend some time and you'll be eligible to participate in the next and upcoming competition. Do read the forum rules, as well. They do say that post-count don't matter, and it is the exact behavior put on display we wished to prevent by doing so. It's a complicated situation now, but because of the risk involved, we've said we'd manually check the quality of the posts. Now we've done the first cycle of that.

U just sucks....If u dont wanna IL members to enter UR FUCKING contest, then dont post link at IL for this contest...pssssssss poor guy. Ban me now.
All you had to do was follow the rules. Is it that difficult? The majority managed to follow the rules, and I'm sure some of them came from IL, so it doesn't really matter where the link was posted. You have nobody to blame but yourself. Read the rules. I don't know why you thought it'd work to go in here postwhoring, enter the contest, and win. It didn't. Whether you're an IL member or anything else, it doesn't matter. We don't care about that here cause it's what you do and contribute with here that matters. You contributed with a bunch of postwhoring -- which is not appreciated -- and you obviously have read the rules now since you capitalize "fucking" (although it doesn't prove your point.) Several other members from the same place you're at have participated in the giveaways. You know, we post the link so guys and girls that are seriously interested in this field can get a chance to receive some item that otherwise would be hard to get. Nobody that behaves the way you just have should be entitled to win prizes that we take time and money out of our schedules to come up with. Consider yourself banned. Come back with another IP, we'll ban you again. The prizes go to the peeps that like hanging out here and are true fans of the game.

Hoppefuly, still on time! This is just terrible to predict. I don't know about Bonjasky I just felt he wii try to prove himself on this final, I get this feeling he has a pretty good chance to come up from the Dutch bracket for the final, but I still think Sefo will take it - easier road + extreme skill and body power = BIG chances for winning!

I haven`t added these up yet, and wont get to them for a couple of days due to being bloody tired now, and work from early tomorrow.
Feel free to add up your own scores and post them iff you like, though I`ll still need to confirm them anyway.
On a brief look though I`d say Shinobu is probably the winner. Perhaps the one guy tht was smart enough to factor the judges skills into it ;-)

Hehe, well from the brackets it was clear K-1 wanted a Bonjasky - Musashi rematch in the finals. Musashi's defense really has improved a lot so I figured Sefo couldn't hurt him.
In the end I simply got lucky though :).
I think I have 50 points (but I suck at maths), damn those extra rounds!

Thanks mate.
We will be attempting to run some sort of give-away with each interview, and event we cover.
Having said that it needs a lot of work & cooperation to pull together, so we may miss out on the odd one or two, but the idea behind this site ( www.kakutougi.info and the forum ) was to try to get the new/average/dedicated fan to be/feel more involved with the sport and support their favourite fighters more. To bridge the gap a little so to speak, when and where we can, so we will keep this and other planned activities up to the best of our abilities.
