Kamatari, shed any news on this?

In an event called Gladiators to be held on 6/4, Mark Coleman fighting James Thompson (yes, the big guy Alek KO`d in less than 10 seconds) in Korea.

Is this Gladiators FC, the same event where Stiebling fought Nogueira, Horn fought Silva, etc?

I heard contradicting reports on the validity of it (the event actually taking place), but it's going down. The plan behind this is that this is an "offer" fight and they will get (presumeably South Korean) fighters in return.

Good stuff. Ive been hoping to see more than those forgettable 10seconds of Thompson, and given the current condition of Mark Coleman I think he definitely has a chance.

I can't wait for Thompson to hulk up again and get KO-ed two seconds later...

i really hope that doesn't happen. James Thompson is a really nice guy and needs more fights in the UK before goign out there again

Must be haed to turn down a good payday and the chance to fight in a really major show with a big name like Emelianenko or a legend like Coleman though.

I spoek to Thompson twice before his fight in Pride and he was orginally suppose to fight Bobish. Which he was pretty confident about the switch to Alex didn't help him.

I see the Coleman fight going the same way as the Tengiz fight at UC X, where a better wrestler overpowers Thompson and GnP's him brutally.

There are some very good fights for Thompson in the UK, like Tengiz (rematch), Junior, Berry, Costello, Burrzota even Freeman if he choses to fight again.

Taking a fight with Coleman isn't smart, but sayign that Thompson new team is very good and he might be far more confident this time round

Didn't know about the Bobish thing. I'd have given him much more of a chance with Bobish than Aleksander.

Definitely some good UK fights for Thompson out there. Would love to see Thompson and Berry go at it.

Yeah Berry wants that fight bad, we was tryign to get Berry vs Junior or Berry vs Tengiz, but he had signed to fight at an event the week after.

I've been a fan of Berry for a while now, the reaction he gets up north is something else. Actually the reactiosn Berry and Thompson get in their home towns is amazing, of some one pyut them together at a venue halfway it would be an amazing atmoshpere

Thompson's from Bristol isn't he?

Now, my geography's a bit shaky but seems to me a decent halfway point between Bristol and Co. Durham might be Stoke-on-Trent.

Come on Kainer2 and Cage Warriors, make it happen and instead of travelling halfway around the country I can get the local bus down there, watch Berry and Thompson try and take each other's heads off and be out with my mates before last orders.

You know you want to, people in Stoke love a good fight, and there's plenty of nightlife.

lol We got Ross Pointon from Stoke on Trent at Strike Force.

Having been to both areas to see Thompson and Berry fight i think a good halfwa point would be my hometown of Dagenham, as i'm fed up of travelling.

Back to topic, i'd settle for Korea if it wa on my TV tho :D

Seems like Steibling, Sperry, Matsui, Sakurai & Dos Jr. will also be on this card

I have a soft spot for matsui. Anyone that can take the beatings he has and still come back for more deserves our respect.

I'm an admirer of Matsui too. He deserved his win over Pele and has shown a lot of skill and ridiculous amounts of toughness as well. Entertaining most of the time too. Funny that plenty of MMA fans on forums deride him as a "can" because he's lost so many fights to top opponents yet talk up American fighters Matsui could beat time after time.

To be fair, Matsui did fight over here in KOTC.. 3 times.

Aside from his decision win over Kerns (a .500 fighter, with a handful of fights), he dropped the ball against Amir and Medina.

Needless to say, Matsui had his shot in the states, to beat American fighters time and again, in a smaller show even, and he went 1-2 against fighters with a combined record of 16-18-1.

To say Matsui would beat them time after time just doesn't make sense.
You'd have to get them in the ring or cage together to call it, and even then your best bet would be to say "Matsui loses a decision"

Matsui has 6 wins.
2 of them by DQ
(Dirty Bob and Rampage... and I am surprised the Rampage fight wasn't made a no contest as it was one unintentional shot, really early in the fight)

Matsui's biggest win, out of his 4 remaining victories, would be against Pele... and it was a good win, a deserved win... but the only way to be able to say Matsui would beat any of those other fighters would be to get them in the ring with him and watch him beat them(and Brian Foster, another lower-tier American fighter, but a great kid, KO'd him a few months back)

Now, do I dislike Matsui?
No way, he's a stud. He doesn't always win, but he always comes to fight, and very few people have had the opportunity to fight the best in the world.

He is very very difficult to submit, tko, or KO, and he is a good test for any fighter (and if they don't come prepared, Matsui just might win)

Jun Ishii vs. Zaur Akhmedov
Hermes Franca vs. Maximillano Thiago Bitencorte Meller
Helio Oliveira "Dipp" Junior vs. Sultanmagomedov Kavkaz
Daijiro Matsui vs. Valentin Sulzhin
Mitsunori Tanimura vs. Kim Sung Hee
Ryuta Sakurai vs. Im Jae Suk
Michiko Omukai vs. Lee Young Ju
Mario Sperry vs. Kim Jin Oh
Jefferson "Tank" vs. Alex Stiebling
Mark Coleman vs. James Thompson
Dos Caras Jr. vs. Kim Jong Wang

Apparently that's it, looking forward to Omukai's fight the most.

You're completely right Grant, I went a little overboard on that one.

Still, noone can deny his kicking Pele's ass was one of the most unexpected things in the world.

From almost getting KO'd, to nearly getting submitted, it was just a wild fight for Matsui.
