In keeping with my "protein" theme....

Anyone use bars? Any good ones out there without BS labels?

Are Detour bars really as bad for you as they taste? ( meaning they taste damned nice ) And if not, how about the newish coconut flavor they have?

Worth using? Or not worth the money?

Can only comment on the ones I've tried in the UK.

Eas bars taste good, Maximuscle taste ok - chocolate orange is better. Have on average 22g of Prot. per bar.

I'm wary to try anything else since most taste so bad.

Ok, so here is my little rant on protein bars. They are garbage! If they taste too good to be true then guess what, it IS too good to be true. Every bar has some sort of "bad" in them. Whether it be falsified label claims or inaccurate ingredient or even better, a shitload of glycerine which is basically 1 molecule away from fat. You are better off making your own MRP or your own protein bars than ever putting one of these FAT bars in your mouth.

Now that I got that out of the way, they are still better than junk food. So that being said, I've found Trioplex, Myoplex and some EAS bars OK. Not great but OK. If you are seriously trying to lose weight then don't touch them but if you are just trying to maintain a healthy diet then they won't hurt when used in moderation.

LOL Jodi.

You do have to read the labels for sure. Since I don't eat meat I tend to use them when travelling abroad when eating what I normally do can prove difficult.

I wouldnt mind eating a protein bar full of fat. I need to bulk up anyway so any food is good for me, especially if it has more than 20g of protein!

If youre picky about it all, then some healthier options lie outside of buying supplements.

I've seen some basic flapjack mixes with protein powder added. Not tried it myself but if Jodi has a recipe it would be worth trying I'm sure.

For the bars, I'll dig around for MRP, well that's simple. Whey, oats and natural peanut butter. :D
