In a short statement for today (May 3rd) "Sportske novosti"; Mirko Cro Cop Filipovic said:
"I insisted that Pride confirm that fighting date will be June 26th at least 2 months before the fight, so April 26th passed then I gave Pride another week to confirm or to cancel the fight - but I didn't recieved any answer from Japan. So it looks like that fight won't happen in June after all - two months notice period it was very important to me cause I had to adjust my trainings to be in top shape for the fight."
Reporter then conluded that new (possible) fighting term is August 28th.
***EDIT*** - according to fortunal (forum.nokaut.com); however - Mirko will fight in June vs TBA

Argh! Thats too bad...
I wonder what the status is of Fedor's finger injury, anybody know?
I think Pride should make some sort of rule that demanded a couple of title defences per year in order to remain champion.

So far is TBA, but somehow i don't think that Mrko will agree to fight Nog before Fedor, though one name is mentioned (but not by Mirko or anyone else from CCT) - Josh Barnett, but it's nothing but speculations...
Like I transalated from the article - No one from Japan didn't contacted Mirko

Tnx for the info. I don't know why , but I have this feeling that Barnett is more dangerous to Mirko than Nog

I am betting on CC x Sergei. I think Nog will keep the distance for a while from Fedor and CC until things are cleared up, I mean, until the CC x Fedor soap opera is over. Even if Nog fights CC in June and win, I don't think he will get a title shot so easily against Fedor again, I think he can just wait and challenge the winner of CC x Fedor for the NYE' show or beginning of next year. Barnett also said he would be good for June... But I think CC x Sergei would be a better fight. The HW division in Pride is looking really good: Fedor, Nog, CC, Sergei, Hunt, Barnett, Rizzo, Werdum...

Bushido was on April 3rd... I heard he would need 4 to 6 weeks to heal his finger and I read in someplace (sorry can't find a source) that he was already training. Probably he is already training but not so hard.
I am even start considering that Pride did to try very much to have them fighting in June. In June, Pride already have Saku, Wanderlei, Nakamura, Igor, Yoshida probably as a reserve, they will probably have very good TV ratings. In August they have only two fights of the GP and it can happen that they have no japanese, 3 brazilians, a Brazil x Brazil final... I think Prider prefers CC x Fedor to be together with the GP final in August. This would be a great show.
I hope CC doesn't mess things up losing in June.

If Mirko fights in June, it won't be a fight against a top contender.
Expect something like CC-Oyama or CC-Dos Caras. (Just my two cents.)
One more thing.
If Fjodor-CC won't happen in june it won't happen in August either.

Why not in August?
About CC x Oyama or Dos Caras, CC himself said that DSE was trying to set up a CC x Nog if Fedor can't fight in June. I don't think Nog wants to fight CC before CC fights Fedor, but I don't think they will give an easy bout to CC in June if they were considering CC x Nog.
I still think CC should sit and wait. He fought 7-8 times last year? It is hard to believe he has obligation by his contract with Pride to fight in June independent of Fedor's situation.

He had the same busy schedule in last two years (missed only two or three Pride shows, Bushidos included), which is insane but he likes it that way.
About CC-Nog, neither of them wants this fight, this was suggested in last couple of weeks from both camps. And personally, I don't see the point of this fight (at this moment, a great fight/rematch otherwise).
CC won't sit and wait, that's just him.
About the August problem. This is the way I see it.
Both Mirko and Fjodor want to have exstensive preparations for this match. Two months from June to August won't be enough even to finish negotiations among the three (DSE and two of them), let along to organize Fjodor's trip to Vos Gym, and CC's gathering of his team (two brazilians and the members of national boxing team).
Remember CC took some time off (from February 'till June) just so he could prepare himself for Fjodor. For him that is an anusually long time without fighting. But it shows how thorough and long preparations for a title shot must be.
Fjodor is taking this fight just as seriously.
So, if they want to have the fight in August it should already be scheduled for August.
My guess is, and this is just my pesimistic view at things, we will se it, at the best, at the NYE Show.

well, I truly hope I'm wrong here, but if DSE needs to choose between october and december, I fear december will be their choice.
not that my opinion is worth much...

If it did come down to a choice between those two months they'd almost certainly go for December to try and pull a major TV rating on New Year's Eve.

If Mirko will fight in June, will 2 months of training be enough for Fedor? NO! Too bad things turned out this way ...

So maybe CC should not fight in June. Fedor is saying he would be ready for August. And it was clear that this fight would most probably not happen in June since Pride Bushido when Fedor injured his finger against TK. It is quite hard to believe that under the circumstances, Pride would not allow CC to fight only in August against Fedor. It is a pity that he is obliged to fight in June. I am sure he doesn't want to fight an injured or not well-prepared Fedor.
