I saw this one coming a mile away:

HERE (http://sportsnavi.yahoo.co.jp/fight/pride/headlines/20050428-00000031-spnavi-spo.html)

Basically he wants Silva to avenge Yoshida`s lost.

Nice stuff. I like the fire in this guy, and the fact he wants to fight!

I would MUCH prefer to see this fight than Saku vs Silva again.

I think this is sucide for Nakamura at this point to ask for Silva. In the othe side i hope DSE doesn`t listen to him because this would make the worst tournament brackets with at least 3 brazilians in the finals.

Looking at the whole GP, you are correct, I just like how ballsy this guy is. I also don`t see it as impossible for him to pull off the upset. It is unlikely of course, but he can throw, and take a hit better than Yoshida.

That wouldn't be too bad but I'd rather see Silva against Nogueira. That would be a sweet fight.

He can pull the upset but the main thing is this left 3 brazilian beside Silva still on the race to the finals. So now let see Pride make BTT fight Chute Boxe and just in case Silva run over Nakamura then you have at least 2 brazilian going to the finals with a third possibilty still there with the brazilian vs. X fighter.

Now i don`t care about the brazil X4 finals but from the business point of view this is very bad for DSE to sell the event with no Japanese in the finals and 4 brazilians.

Looks like I called one match up right :) Nakamura can take Silva down and GnP him to UD on a good day

I agree.

Which is why i always assumed it was going to be Saku vs. Silva IV as the main event in Rd. 1 and having Nak fight Alastair (who he probably has the best chance of beating out of the final 8) or Saku vs. Nak to guarantee one Japanese fighter in the final.

I think Pride will match them up something like this:

Saku vs Nog
Nak vs Silva
Arona vs Shogun
Igor vs Overeem

I dunno... I don't think DSE will match them up.

The smartest matchmaking would be
Silva vs. L'il Nog
Nakamura vs. Sakuraba

Those just aren't smart matches, they would be entertaining matches.

Ok I kinda agree, but will DSE matchup wand with nog?
I think that would be a VERY hard fight for wand and it's only the second round.

However it is my ideal scenario! so I hope you're right!

wand vs nog
arona vs shogun
saku vs nak
igor vs overeem

Nakumura is capable of beating anyone, but Silva will hurt him. Nakumura x Nog..... well it's just tough brackets regardless. I don't know who will win this thing but with all these young guns.... I don't think my favorite fighter (Silva) will be taking home the bacon this year. How about Shogun x Nakamura

Every fight in the second round will be a tough fight for Wand or anyone else :\

I think Arona would be just as tough.

I think that dse will pull something like
Wand vs Arona
Nog vs Shogun
Igor Vs Overeem
Sak Vs Nak
In this way they could Hype the BTT Vs Chuteboxe rivalry and put an european and a Japanese fighter into the finals.

I think Nakamura has very little chances of getting the upset in a fight against Wand. I think that Saku x Alistair and Nakamura x Igor would give better chances of a japanese to be in the semi (not considering the obvious 'Saku x Nakamura' option). Also they could have CB x BTT and get rid of two brazilians.
On the other hand, the GP will not be the main part of the show in August, I mean, the GP will be only two fights. They will have at least more 6 to 8 fights to please the japanese. I think it would not be so bad in terms of audience if they have 3 or 4 brazilians there.

Nakamura fought twice and lost against Minotoro, I would not like to see a third fight... not so soon. Call me crazy but I think that Igor would be the best match-up for Nakamura.

i just hope to see:

arona vs shogun
igor vs overeem

....and i'll be happy

i think naka vs wand would be a great fight...yoshida gave silva a hard time, i think nakamura would give him a hell of a fight as well. that'd be quite an upset if nakamura actually beat silva in round 2 haha..imagine.

May his wish be granted.

I have the feeling that Silva would roll through him as a semi through a 30 year old trabant. Nakamura got pretty banged up against Henderson, it will be even more difficult overcoming Wand.

So if that match happens then maybe we'll get:
Silva - Nak
Alistair - Sak
Arona - Igor
Rogerio - Shogun

I really like this actually

I like just about any match you can make in the next round.

No, Saku and Nak would not be as hard for Wand.
Arona on the other hand would be almost as hard as Nog IMO, although Aronas standup is much worse than Nogs.

"wont be as hard", but will still be a tough fight is what I meant.

I'm actually hoping he fights Igor.

I've been very impressed with Aronas lowkicks lately which seems to be very powerful. But he really needs to tuck his chin in and stop serving it on a silver plate.

Yes Aronas lowkick looks very good but the rest of his standup game doesn't

I'm not asking for highkicks, Arona should just spend a couple of months with a good boxing coach for goods sake!
