I think they should set this up now rather than later, and eiher have two guys with no conncetion fight, or two fighters that have lost in the first round.
Given that, Yoshida vs. Kondo would be a huge crowd seller and they are the two that lost that probably put in the best losing performances considering who they fought.
Thoughts?

I'd be happy with a "loser's tourney" where the winner gets the reserve spot. :-) My one thought is that Pride would really like another Japanese fighter in the second round, so it's quite possible they come up with a fight like Yoshida vs Kondo. I think the results this night isn't exactly what they wanted. More Japanese fighters mean better domestic ratings, right?

I hate the idea of putting someone who lost back intot he tournament, so how about Ikuhisa Minowa. He's a winning streak, is Japanese and would be a competitive fight for any of the remaining 8 (despite the quick and brutal loss to Silva last time).

More Japanese will be the name of the game, and Minowa would be decent too, but he is fighting in Bushido too close isn`t he?
A losers GP sounds sweet too but I don`t think they`d be able to afford it. lol

I hate the idea of putting somebody who was not in the first round right into the second round. It's that whole thing of having almost been there and not been there at all. However, with your example, Minowa should at least have to fight one of the losers and that'd be a decent compromise. :-)

HWGP they had Randleman (great loss against Fedor) vs. H2O (new.....for the sake of the thread we will ignore the fact he lost a qualifying fight to even enter the GP) so one that was in, against one that wasn`t wold be nice.
If that was the case Minowa vs Kondo would be brilliant.....but both guys don`t like fighting japanese.

Kondo vs Vitor would be a good fight!
Wouldn't even have to be an alternate fight. I think it would be a great matchup. I think Kondo has a good chance of beating Vitor. But it seems that Vitor is not a crowd pleaser in Japan.
Here's another one, Yoshida vs Sik
Sik's chance for redemption.

Maybe they should take make an alternate tournament, I'm sure they can find four other fighters.
I'm not for bringing back a fighter who has lost, cause he's had his chance and thing didn't work out.

Kondo is the best choice.
He probably had the hardest first round fight and went the distance.
His opponent should be another fighter who did the same:
Yoshida, Randleman, or Lister

I'd actually like to see Chuck Liddell brought in.

I would go with Yoshida and Kondo since both of them were underdogs in their fights and they went to a decision.
Although Kondo clearly lost he showed heart!

What would be really cool is something like Kondo/Yoshida vs. Randy now that he isn`t champ.

They'll allow Randy to fight in Pride, they said they would.

It also has been said that Randy will finish his career at the end of his last UFC contract.....2 more fight and 10-12 months left!
I dont think Zuffa will take the risk to bring couture in Pride, If he lose it will be a very bad end of career...
