Hey, don't tell me none you watched it. It was going to be an epic event, and an epic it was.
Jorge Boechat vs. Nicolae Cury - Cury by TKO R1
David Gomez vs. Bryan Hamade - Hamade by TKO (submission) R1
Mikey Gomez vs. Lorenzo Borgomeo - Gomez by Armbar R2
James Edson Berto vs. Conor Heun - Heun by TKO R2
Cristiane "Cyborg" Santos vs. Yoko Takahashi - Santos by UD
Murilo "Ninja" Rua vs. Benji Radach - Radach by TKO R2
Gina Carano vs. Kelly Kobold - Carano by UD
Andrei Arlovski vs. Roy Nelson - AA by KO R2
Jake Shields vs. Paul Daley - Shields by Armbar R2
Kevin "Kimbo Slice" Ferguson vs. Seth Petruzelli - Petruzelli by TKO R1
Oh Lord.
Oh Lord.
Oh Lord.
I couldn't stop laughing when Kimbo crumbled and displayed his awesome non-defense on the ground. I kind of knew Petruzelli would beat him, though. That guy is not really a joke, despite how he looks, whereas Kimbo is, well, a bit on the joke side. I understand why the Kimbo camp hesitated a bit when they proposed Seth as the new opponent.
WAR gravity-enhancing underwear for Gina. WAR 1.75lbs instantly gone.
Anyway, I don't know if this outcome is spin-able no matter how hard they try.
And Ken is an incredible idiot. He deserves all the words Frank pounded on him. What a disgrace.
Discuss away.

Yeah, this is the second time Seth has brought reality home to one of these over-hyped fighters. He drilled Sapp, but somehow K-1 figured out a way to give Sapp the win in what I remember as a "WTF" happened moment.

IMO Elite XC really, really needed the Kimbo-Shamrock fight to happen to have any kind of hopes of surviving. Shamrock pulling out broke that hope, and Kimbo getting knocked out by a complete no-name (to every casual fan- i.e. the ones who matter - anyway) in just over 10 seconds smashed it into bits. All Elite XC has left is a marketable female star who keeps failing to make weight, a heavyweight champ accused of juicing, a vacant lightweight title, and two talented yet "uncharismatic" champs at middleweight and welterweight.
If I were Tito, I would have second thoughts about signing a deal with Elite XC at the moment. :(

How did Ken get a cut? shaving? LOL!
I've just seen the Kimbo fight and while Kimbo is overrated by many he was too eager in this fight, way to eager.

I didn't watch the event but I saw the Kimbo fight.. wow, just wow. How could something like that happen to someone as tough as Kimbo. Even if his skill level isn't that high.. getting KOed by a one legged Jab? Insane.. Surely if Kimbo had a glass jaw it would have come out during his training..
The worst part is Ken is probably sitting back watching, thinking "that could have been me! I could have KOed Kimbo!".
What a massive upset for EliteXC
And Ken is an incredible idiot. He deserves all the words Frank pounded on him. What a disgrace.
And could someone explain this to me? What was said?

He said something along the lines of that Ken never trains light. He always pushes it which is why he was cut. Basically calling him an idiot on live tv.
Kimbo getting KO'd by a weak jab was not what I expected :D
Shields was lucky he got the sub. He would have gotten KO'd otherwise.
Carano had to work HARD for her win though.

I watched and re-watched and I just can't see the punch that put Kimbo down. Were it other way around I'd be screaming work :)
Three minute rounds for women are a joke.

there was a half right jab that lands just under Kimbo's eye and he nose-plants right after it. It doesn't seem to have landed with any power at all, but I guess it hit his soft spot.

Kimbo got knocked out by a one-legged jab from a light heavyweight weighing in at 205.5 lbs. I liked it.

after watching that vid Sixtus linked, the scene becomes even more ridiculous. not only was it a one legged jab, Seth blocked Kimbo's right hook with his off-the-ground leg, then threw that wobbly counter right jab.

block punch with other leg
throw right jab while still on one leg, while blocking punch with other leg

Shields didn't look very good - his standup just isn't there. I like Daley but you can make the same complaint against him in regards to his ground game. However, Daley isn't the one who has gone around trying to drum up interest in a fight with GSP. Shields' standup is really deficient, and he reacted pretty poorly to eating some shots.
Nelson getting stood up from side control on Arlovksi was, like everyone said, abominable. Arlovski ended up making out alright, but this fight casts doubt in my mind about how well Arlovski would account himself against Barnett, much less Fedor.
Kimbo.... man oh man, what can you say? I like some others on here just laughed when I saw it. What a joke. The only bad part about it will be Dana White's reaction to the whole thing.
And Ken Shamrock, I couldn't stand him before, and I like him even less now. What a moron.
As for Frank's comments on Ken, he was right in calling him an idiot, but I thought it was pretty transparent that he was also attempting to drum up interest in a fight between them for the future - something about Ken harming the Shamrock family legacy??? Come on....
Shameless Frank also called out Tito in the broadcast as well... the dude is an amazing self-promoter though.

Sad thing is I am a fan of Kimbo lol and I bought into the hype thinking he had a solid chin and good punching power. How wrong I was... What makes the loss worse for Kimbo is the guy weighted in at 205 1/2. Dana must be loving this a TUF fighter beats up the Golden boy for EliteXC. I like to see Tito and Frank Shamrock go at it. It should be very entertaining.

it was awesome. it was also my first live show, and i got to be press. it was fantastic. the guys took real good care of us. there wasnt a boring fight that night. look out for Ben Henderson. he took it hard to Diego Saraiva dominating the standup and the ground with lightning fast takedowns, good sub defense and gnp from the top. dudes got a work rate comparable to clay guida including the bottomless gas tank. we will see him in the big shows soon. ill be sure to send you a link to the review and pictures when its all up and ready.

Good God.
What a fantastically entertaining (yet mortifying) show.
Kenny is definitely an idiot. But not as much as some of the other people involved in this fiasco.
Benji-Ninja was a fun fight and I enjoyed seeing Benji win. That old Chute Boxe 'fling your limbs all over the place' style needs to be stopped. Now. People have figured it out.
Gina was lovely. And she had a great fight. As always. If they last lonmg enough to do the Gina vs. Mrs Cyborg fight they MUST subtitle it 'Beauty & the Beast'.
The referee in the Nelson-Arlovski fight should have been shot. Or drowned. That stand-up was appalling. Roy needs to learn how to defend against low kicks. Frank Shamrock claiming Arlovski dominated the fight was utterly hilarious considering only Abe Bellardo and Cecil Peoples could have given the metrosexual the first round.
Hasn't Tito been 'about a week away' from signing a deal with EliteXC or Affliction for about two months now?
I expected Shields to beat Daley quicker. Good first round by Shields but Daley showed some nice stand-up in the second. Sweet armbar finish. And at least somebody finally smartened Shields up and he called out Lawler instead of GSP in his post-fight interview.
Kimbo-Seth.................
Oh my.
Gus Johnson is mostly to blame for this but EliteXC looked so fucking ghetto when they made iut sound like Seth just turned up at the arena and got the fight. I had images of them frisking every ticket buying fan and asking if they'd done MMA befgore finally striking it lucky when seth showed up. An announcer's job is to tell stories and Gus told the wrong one.
Kimbo looked pathetic. And his post-fight interview was a disgrace. If I'd lost a fight like that I wouldn't be yammering about it being 'all good' and plugging my after-party. I'd hang my big, shiny bald head in shame at being KOed by that hopping right hand and generally looking like a sack of crap.
I felt sorry for Mauro at the end. There was Gus, blithering about Kimbo when it was blatantly obvious that anybody with a brain would have glossed over that and talked about Gina and Shields winning their fights. Poor Mauro totally understands that and had to stand there quietly while Gus buried the company even further into the ground.

No way, I didn't know this!? Kimbo asked for more money? That's not right. He is already way over paid in the sport. I was a fan of Kimbo but after asking for more money and he disrepected Shamrock for no reason then wouldn't tap gloves with Seth during the face off, he deserved to lose the fight yesterday. I too really like the Ninja and carano fight.

He basically blackmailed them. No idea how much they had to pay him but if he didn't get the money he'd have been perfectly happy to fuck them over and leave the show without a main event.

Makes perfect sense. Seth is a completely different opponent than Shamrock, and the risks were quite a lot bigger. I mean, losing to Seth would be devastating to his career. Not to mention the returns smaller, as a win against Seth would not create a lot of hype for his career. So why shouldn't he renegotiate? It's not like EliteXC would be there for him in the long run if he started losing.

Its not renegotiating when you tell the promotion (the people who pay you handsomely and made you a star) you want more money or you're not fighting.

What was EliteXC thinking putting Kimbo in with Petruzelli??? Yeah he gave up a lot in size but all that kickboxing experience pretty much negates Kimbo's "strengths" which really is powerful punching.
I was disappointed that Paul Daley lost, I've really enjoyed the fights that I've seen him in. At least he was able to take Shields into the second round. Hopefully he develops more ground skills because he's an exciting fighter who's fun to watch.
Arlovski/Nelson mostly bored me except for when Nelson was smothering Andrei's face with his titty while he had side control.
Carano/Kobald was just atrocious to watch. Their styles made for an unappealing fight until about the last minute in round 3 when Carano finally started to find her rhythm. If EliteXC continues to put wrestlers in front of Gina let's hope they at least find wrestlers who are more well rounded.
Ninja/Radich was fun but disappointing since I'm much more of a Ninja fan and have never really appreciated Radich. Still, a matchup between Radich and the winner of Lawler/Villasenor should make for a good fight.

Either that or blackmail, lol.
And I've just heard a few more notes (from a pretty reliable source). Kimbo's $500,000 doesn't include that 'negotiated/blackmailed' amount which remains undisclosed.
Also, both Kenny and Seth were being specifically paid to stand with Kimbo. Kenny has apparently kept quiet about that but Seth has admitted it publicly, then denied he ever said it.
EliteXC are (rightfully) furious with Kenny and may not use him again.

Be it morally right or wrong, but the moment your opponent drops out, the earlier contract needs to be renegotiated. The promotion is not an organization run by nuns. They are there for a profit, not for your well-being.

What I like about Gus, is that he has only done 3 MMA shows and yet comes off sounding more professional than 90% of other MMA commentators, including Mike Goldberg who comes out with ridiculous bullshit every bloody show.
