Melvin Manhoef will stop fighting for a while.
He wants to spend more time with his children and his family.
He has been training 3 times a day 7 days a week.
When he will return is not known. :-(

I hope he comes back soon. I like Melvin's crazy fighting style.

Noo!

But I understand his decision, to advance further he needs a better ground game and I guess that means living and breathing mma training 24/7, and thus no time for the family.

If they ever go through with a middleweight K-1 division (probably not) Melvin would be an excellent choice to include in it.

7 days a week is crazy. He was pretty active this year, but 5 or 6 should have done it.

Good for him for taking time off. That is a busy schedule he has had and he deserves the time to spend with his family.

that would give him almost 6 months off between here and there. but how soon would he begin to train?

I first thought about retirement. Glad that's not the case. He's always entertaining to watch, a pure monster in the ring.

Manhoef in K-1 MAX maybe? MAX= Middleweight Artistic Xtreme ;) Manhoef vs. Masato would be a punch slugfest, without a doubt :eyebrow:

On a serious note, i totally understand what you mean. He's a bit too small for the Open Weight Division and would need his own weight class to have a realistic chance for becoming a champion.

There's no way in hell Manhoef can cut down to the weight class for MAX. He's hugenormous.

I thought JLB didn't wanna fight in Holland anymore... Do you know something we don't? ;)
