Of the aired fights, I was happy to see Eric Schafer get a win. I was worried he'd be too slow a starter for Houston Alexander. It had me even more worried after he in the first minute received two illegal knees successively without the refereee even making a mention of it. Great sidechoke submission, and classy post-fight dedicating it to Evan Tanner.
Herman vs Belcher is a fight I followed and I'm not one to score fights while I'm watching them, but my general impression was that Herman was winning the fight. It really surprised me that Belcher took the decision.
Guida got a very good win. He's just working harder that Danzig, and Danzig never got to make space to throw his strikes. I like watching Guida fight, so I'm glad he won this.
I don't like watching Nate Diaz fight. In fact, I only watch his fights to see him lose, and that can't be a really good attribute for a fighter to have. But I just find it really, really hard to like him (and his brother.)

I like Guida too, he is always keeping busy. I don't like the Diaz brothers either there way too cocky and they have no respect. Nate was on live TV last night cursing?! How stupid can you be.

I forgot about this card because I have been working so much. I am glad the Alan and Red got victories. It was a good night for Duke Roufus fighters.
I feel sorry for Houston. I am not sure whats next for him.

Diaz-Neer was good. Nicely paced fight and Nate is fantastically entertaining. If somebody made a Diaz brothers reality show I'd watch it. Actually, if somebody just did a 24/7 webcast of their lives, I'd quit my job and watch them all day long.
Good to see Guida pick up a win. He's one of my favourite fighters to watch.
Belcher-Herman was close but I'd definitely give it to Belcher - he rocked Herman with a few shots and Herman just spent way too much time sleepily plodding after him to complain about the decision too much.
Houston's illegall knees not being picked up was appalling refereeing but at least Schafer got the win. I like watching Houston and think Zuffa will keep him around simply because they know he's charismatic and entertaining.

Diaz/Neer was a very entertaining. I've always been a big fan of both Nick & Nate and I enjoyed seeing Nate's game progress. His boxing has gotten better and I never knew he had throws like that. Great fight and very classy of Neer to shake his head when it was announced that one of the judges actually scored the fight in his favor.
Guida/Danzig was fun to watch as Clay's pace is always amazing. If he ever develops better striking technique to go along with that stamina and speed he'd be a nightmare.
Belcher/Herman was frustrating and the most boring fight of the night for me. I felt Belcher could've/should've pressed the action more and try to capitalize off the shots that rocked Herman but oh well he got the decision.
Schafer/Alexander was a good fight to start off the show. The crowd's energy behind Houston really came through the broadcast. I like Houston and if he gets cut I hope he makes it back to the UFC quickly.

I thought the show was pretty decent, overall. I'd say 8/10.
Schafer/Alexander had some great action. I question Houston's gas tank. As it seemed to me, he more or less gave up after defending about 15 takedowns and throwing about 50 power shots. You could almost see it in his facial expression as he was being taken to the ground. good fight regardless. Red's standup game looked very bad. As did Houston's ground game.
Belcher/Herman was another one of those fights. One fighter more dominant on the ground. The other more in the standup. In the end, I felt Belcher did enough to win it. (barely) was a close fight.
Guida/Danzig - I normally enjoy watching Clay fight. But this fight was an exception. Clay was on a mission to hug his way to victory.
*I take a min here*
I'm a little shocked to read from some of you that you thought the Clay fight was exciting. These are the same folks that complain about Arona's world class grappling skills........
anyway, it was a weird fight. It seemed as if Danzig did more damage and clay got more takedowns.
Diaz/Neer - was a close fight. I had it 29-28, diaz. Good technical fight. I was loving that spin-around move that Diaz was using. It seemed to get him out of harms way every time!

Guida vs. Danzig was kind of fast-forward worthy for me. Too much of a generic takedown contest, which effectively kills any sort of "flow" in the game. Kinda like a wheel spinning at high speed with no frequency shift and eventually looking like one monotonous disc. It's hard for me to pay much attention to that. But well, that's nobody's fault.
Nate was great. I usually cringe whenever Rogan (=BJJ cheerleader) or Goldberg utters that horribly generic term "the Judo throw," as if there was actually such thing in this world and as if throws didn't exist in other martial arts like wrestling, but Nate's for sure got it. I almost feel like if a fighter is put in such an imbalanced position in a clinch and gets harai-goshi-ed/uchimata-ed/seoi-ed like that, you should declare ippon right there and end the fight, and I'm only half-joking. OK, maybe three-quarters-joking.
Cecil Peoples is the split decision artist.
Oh, and Belcher won.
