According to nikkansports.com SENGOKU have gotten a TV deal with TV Tokyo. On the 27th this month (the day before SENGOKU V) a 1-hour program will be shown that will be about SENGOKU I-IV. After that, starting from October 6th, a 25-minute show will air every week with the (temporary) name SENGOKUG (G=Gold) (戦極G). And also, SENGOKU’s new years event, which the article says is on January 4th, will get a 2-hour (or more) slot on the network. There are comments made by WVR PR Kuniyasu in the article.

TV Tokyo is known for their anime shows like Naruto, Bleach, and Pokemon.

Sounds like great news for WVR. I like the direction they're going (from a "purist"'s perspective, that is) so hope they do very well. Does this and the impending doom of DREAM that's being rumored mean that Sengoku is doing better than DREAM? Or is it just that the backers of WVR have more cash to strike this kind of deal?

It's not terribly expensive to buy a TV-Tokyo time slot, which I assume is what WVR did. TV-Tokyo is the weakest and smallest of the Japanese network TV stations. They spend a lot less on and are more flexible about their programs than the other stations, and that's why there are lots of anime programs on the channel, some of which were down right weird/esoteric, such as, say, Neon Genesis Evangelion (which was hardly for the general public).

Hustle is on TV-Tokyo, too.

The UFC was aired on the same channel back in 2005, though it was terminated rather quickly.

It is good news for MMA, though. It needs all the exposure it can get.

I can't say WVR are doing "better" than DREAM. They are so different that it's hard to compare them under the same kind of logic.

Great news. Not to fill the stable.
