Can somebody with a German or Dutch background please explain to me what's so good about that song. It's obviously on hitlists, but why??

Thanks!

Damn it. I keep on editing in here because I want to be nice in my first post but this whole thing seems like aging parents buying the record in sympathy of the talentless child performing the PoS.

Actually, (trying to be nice) I don't know and I hate the frigging song :p.

To sound more educated. Especially in Germany they tend to like this Volksmusik as they call it and this is some sort of part of it.

In the Netherlands though there is some sort of Apres-ski culture. Not that we can actually ski here but we just leave that part out and go to some wintersportsresort like bar and drink/dance the night away on ridicoulus tunes. I've done it once, I liked it but I was drunk so I deny everything :) but it's not understandable for anyone in his right frame of mind I guess....

I've seen the video on TV and everytime I download a pack of new songs from alt.binaries, it's on there. It was #1 in Netherlands not long ago according to a top 40 I downloaded. I thought it was a joke at first. It was my first encounter with the song. I can't figure this out. I thought I was missing something obvious, but I guess it's a case of "ohhh, what a cute kid singing".

Well Schnappi ain't Volksmusik-that's for sure. It's more or less an annoying children's song.
Plus I don't know anyone who actually likes Volksmusik-it's only popular amongst older people and well younger people with a more conservative mindset I guess.
As to why this song is so successful-I don't have the slightest idea. I usually avoid radio and charts in general but that song was all over the place for no apparent reason. The story behind the song is that this child recorded it and it was then spread over the internet. It was then released as a ringtone (ringtones are VERY popular in Germany-and annoying as hell if I might add) and single. Doesn't explain anything I know but I'm puzzled as well.

Ringtone commercials make me sick. I'm so tired of "Sweety" or "Tweety" or whatever that yellow bird's name is. Had I had a time-machine 15 years ago and gotten a glance of the commercials on TV today, I'd probably gone Amish.
