I might be a hater but the last time a Vitor Belfort fight excited me was around 2000.

Its crazy that we refer to Vitor as old when he is only like 30. But he was a star at a very young age, so maybe he is sort of old. I mean his UFC debut was in Feb of 97, so he was 18.

And oddly enough that was when he was doing slow and monotonous ground and pound..

I can't lie. No matter how many times I swear to myself that I'll never get excited about Vitor fighting I always do. He's MMA's Mike Tyson to me. Even though I think he'll try to avoid Martin's power by taking it to the ground I still hold out hope for a flash of his old brilliance...

I think I got labelled as a Vitor hater on Sherdog.
I was okay with it.
Note to self: Don't ask Sherdoggers to name the time Vitor beat a top ten ranked opponent AT THAT TIME without mentioning Randy Couture.
Always fun.
He's MMA's Mike Tyson to me.
In all respect, as a Tyson fan, are you downplaying Tyson, one of the most dominant and successful heavyweights, or trying to make Vitor something morwe than a Cage Rage champion, failed drug test and fluke LHW champion?
Tyson destroyed, and unified the belts at a ridiculously young age. Vitor beat a pre-top ten Wand and Herring as his plaster covering the needle mark fell off.

That recently? Really?
Mine was in '98 when he blitzed Wanderlei.
Since then, nothing. Literally, NOTHING.
He's a great fit for Affliction though..... Good name in the hardcore MMA community, a controversial/divisive career AND a history of shitty fights.

Same here, I am one of those losers who still think that mythical "Old Vitor" is coming back any day now... I just can't help it.

I'm confident this will be a decent fight. Martin is a good wrestler so Vitor probably won't take him down and at the same time Martin is usually pretty aggressive standing. I think he will force Vitor to be exciting here.

None of the above. Vitor's first 5 or so fights in the UFC were incredible.

I'm glad Vitor is getting a chance on this great card. Fighting Martin will be a good test to see exactly where Vitor is at this stage of his career. He's still young and he's been able to avoid any major physical damage over the years. (for the most part)
I guess Vitor's main problems have always been his gas tank and his heart.
I keep hoping that he will someday beat his demons and become the great fighter that he is capable of being.

just remember in the old pride rules the lighter competitor(Vitor) in case of decision always wins
if the heavier competitor *(heath) can't display an overwhelming or dominant performance
That said Vitor was in good form but he seems to have 2 sides...The BJJ cautious side...and the lets Bum Rush and Box Vitor...when he can combine those 2 w/ a little Capoeira + 25 min conditioning I think he could gain a belt. Would love to see an EliteXC rematch between Vitor(CR last time I saw him) and Tito (love or hate him I enjoy watching him)

Martin is fat he shouldnt go back up. hell he could probably make 170. he looks chubby even at 185. was just curious if Vitor was trying something different more than anything.

The Affliction website seems to hint the fight is at 185lbs as they listed 185 as Vitor Belfort's weight.
