Hardonk by KO in the 2nd.

Wow.

Sanchez dopped Hardonk in the first exchange and just repeatedly battered him with counter uppercuts. Then in the 2nd, Hardonk threw 4 to 5 leg kicks and Sanchez was a sitting duck and Hardonk KOed him with a left hook.

I had given up on Hardonk after getting dropped in the first exchange and repeatedly rocked but what a way to come back. It seems like he is so used to guys just trying to take him down he wasn't ready at all for someone to attack and counter his punches. Great win but he has a lot of work to do.

It was a fun "bar" fight to watch for sure. I think they both have a long way to go, but they are both entertaining enough to watch.

How long has Hardonk been with Hoost?

Im pretty sure I remember seeing Hoost in Hardonk's corner for the Pendergarst fight in 06... so at least that long.

I'm surprised that as a kickboxer, Hardonk is so stiff on his feet and his upperbody. I'd like to see some lateral movement and headmovement. I'd like to see him work that because he can be a potentially entertaining fighter. But considering he's been fighting MMA professionally for quite a few years now, and still gets knocked down by Sanchez, I'm not putting my expectations too high. This is all in my opinion, though ... I just think he's got some kinks to work out standing before he's ready for tougher competition.

Hardonk has been with Hoost and Vos gym for as long as I can remember, probably since the start of his career.

I nearly always support my countrymen but in all honesty I think he'll never get that much better than he is right now.

It was an entertaining fight yes but it showed his weaknesses and perhaps this lengthens his ufc life...

I don't know about you guys but I think Antoni Hardonk's chin is made of granite. He took some BOMBS from Sanchez. Two rounds of bombs. And who was the one standing at the end?

He's definitely better than 50% of the HWs out there. His defensive guard is TIGHT and well enough to get him the standup he needs. I want to see this guy fight again soon.

Where they're from makes no difference to me. It's all about performance. You'll also notice I like Bisping and Kampmann too, both of which are Euros.

The whole fight was appallingly sloppy, though. Cain Velasquez would rip through those guys at the same time.

That was what I was aiming at :P.

I agree that Cain would be a horrible style matchup for both of them, but I have no idea why you are calling Antoni a sloppy striker. He has very solid technique, he just wasn't moving his head enough.

I never called Hardonk a sloppy striker. But to be taken down by Eddie Sanchez in the manner he did makes him a sloppy fighter. :)
