Starting from 2009, when a fighter is dropped, no counts, just go at him.

It'll be weird not hearing "DOWN!" in a Shooto fight but it's for the best. As long as the catch rule stays I'm happy.

I agree. I love Shooto, but I was never a big fan of that rule.

I am glad the rule is gone, but it was for put in place for amatuer MMA so I have no real problem with the attempt to make it more different then other pro organizations. But MMA isn't supposed to be stopped so it is a good thing the rule is gone.

I just hope they don't outlaw strikes to the back of the head.

Ishida and kawajiri thumping dudes in the brain stem was truly a pleasure to watch. Shooto rules will be missed.

I think it makes perfect sense to ban them. But one thing that sometimes bothers me is the way the rules that forbid strikes to the back allow the use of turning back or turtling up as a defense, which is something that deviates from the idea that MMA should be as close to real fight as possible. To me, turtling up looks almost like giving up. Maybe there could be point deductions?

There hasnt been a serious injury due to punches to the back of the head in almost 20 years of Shooto if somebody gets injured than they can talk about it not out of the blue like right now.
