It was a good fight with a crappy crowd. The action was pretty consitent, but people booed every time they me measured each other instead of throwing stupidly. Smith was really good with his elbows and Lawler was good with the jab and the dirty boxing.

Fight stopped with a thumb to the eye NO contest. It was an accedent but it still sucked.

Yeah, that stoppage was really unfortunate. The fight was pretty entertaining... think the doctor made a bad call there, but I guess they are erring on the side of caution for network TV.

As a person who likes a good brawl, i was happy with the fight till the stop.

The stoppage was ridiculous! The Commissioner's explanation was astoundingly stupid. Smith said he couldn't see immediately after the poke, but after his (commission allotted) five minutes for recovery, he thought he would be able to....so they stopped the fight. WTF??? He's given five minutes for recovery! If that five minutes after an eye poke is not given so he can recover his vision, then what is it given for at all? Great fight up until that point, I thought it could have even ended up as a fight of the year candidate, both guys trading crisp strikes and looking to fight until they couldn't stand any more.

I agree. That doctor was an idiot. Of course he is going to tell them he can't see, he just got a thumb into the eye! All he wanted was 5 min time to recover like he deserved. I felt bad for him and Robbie. They put on a good war. Why was the crowd booing? Was Andy Dick in the crowd?

Nothing to add here. The doctor said he told them twice he could not see. That was both within the first two minutes then. Any later and he probably could see again.

Bad stoppage in my book.
