Well, not quite the sub I predicted, but good stuff from the head-butting Croat.

I'm happy for him to win. Pretty big jump from local tournaments to UFC and finishing experienced opponent was really nice to see. Can't wait for his next match.

Really it got FOTN? Isn't that like a 50k bonus or something like that?

Nice bonus, it should help fund his stay at Couture academy.

Very nice win for Goran, he's full of potential. I don't where Rogan got the idea that he's a black belt though, he's a purple belt under Roger Gracie here and has taken gold in a good few UK comps.

I thought you could really see that Reljic was a disicple/admirist of CroCop's the way he loaded up and delivered those big left middle/high kicks (and punches for that matter). I gotta say he kinda fought like I thought/hoped CC would fight in the UFC in that 1st round (no disrespect to Crocop for his fights or his his style - I love the dude. Just Reljic reminded me of the PRIDE-era power-punchin'-'n-kickin' CC. Plus he had that kinda awesome CC confidence). You could hear the joy sound in the 1R when he landed them kicks.

There is a lot of excitement in Croatia about Goran's debut in UFC.
This was a great way to enter world's premier competition.
I expect a lot from him in the future.

He was very impressive - I will love to see more from him.

Good fight. I also want to see more of Reljic but I am not totally convinced, there were moments he just as easy could have lost the fight.

Reljic is mainly BJJ, his striking skills ain't got absolutely nothing with Cro Cop, all he learnt is from his (now former) coach Vlado Bozic - who was also Cro Cop's trainer in 2 mandats, and from Couture team.
Don't try to give Cro Cop credits which he doesn't deserve, with mentor like Cro Cop: Reljic today woudn't know how to throw a jab and he'd still fighting on shitty croatian b-class & c-class tournaments
He left CCT 3 years ago

Well he referred to Crocop himself so that might the reason why many probably believes, or want to believe, that CC had something to do with it. And I havenīt seen many comments on here giving CC praise for it.
Is there any particular reason for your, quite harsh, comment on CC (and his camp)?

CC team is focused ONLY on CC, other fighters have nothing to gain from training in CC team. OK, maybe "nothing" is exaggerating, but fighters need to leave CC team after a while if they want to achieve something big.
If I remember correctly, Goran came to CC team as Mirko's BJJ sparring partner, then left and trained with Vlado Bozic (former CC boxing coach), and now he did the best thing: he went to REAL camp.
CC team is not organized as a camp, it is a gym in Mirko's basement, and all fighters and trainers are brought there to help Mirko prepare for his fights.
Mirko plans to open a real gym/camp only after his career is over, that will be great opportunity for upcoming fighters.
LHK from former CC student/sparring partner will inevitably remind people of Mirko, but reality is, Goran needs to stay in Extreme Couture camp. They will give him everything he needs to reach the top.

I interpreted bbbmarcs post as, as a mentor, CC is more or less crap. And that surprised since CC seems more like a thoughtful and intelligent fighter (most of the times) and I therefore also thought that he probably would be a great mentor and coach. But his shortcomings in the mentor/coach-aspect might of course be the side-effect of the total focus he, and his team, has on his own career.

Yeah, I didn't and don't know how much the dude actually has to do with CroCop, just he reminded me of him a bit yesterday when I watched him fight - the way he loaded up his shots and seemed confident in the ring.
Plus would have loved to see CC smash through some opponents in the UFC before he left.

well, i just wanted to point out that reljic gained nothing or very little from crocop team, luckily he and his management are aware that he can improve only by working in top mma gyms fe extreme couture

That's about it, you summed it up nicely.
I am sure he will be a great coach one day, but for now, CC team is 100% focused on Mirko.
I always thought that Mirko would benefit from a real training camp, where trainers would work with a lot of fighters, upcoming and established ones, and where Mirko would not be the center of the universe (so to speak).
Such team(camp) would help him develop much more versatile MMA game.
Obviously, Mirko thinks otherwise.

CroCop doesn't need a better camp so long as the Japanese continue to feed him cans to devour. Where's the sense of urgency to improve when the majority of your opponents consist of no-name Japanese fighters barely above .500 or grappling matches that have no bearing on ANYTHING?
