Surprised at Tito finding that submission, honestly. Still, Lyoto deserved the match and did it in his typical style.

XC next for Tito?

Yeah, I was surprised when that happened. Wish he could finish him though.
Lyoto is really good, but VERY boring fighter.

Lyoto is incredible, but he's boring for me to watch....
Bad last fight for Tito, it sucks. Tito is a MMA legend!

Also, I was really unimpressed by Lyoto's hand, I thought he will own Tito baly with his punches but he didnt!

I don't find Lyoto boring at all. He is a superb technican.

Good win for Machida, Tito should have gone for the takedowns early when Machida was still dry.

Also Titos setup one-twos were soooo easy to read.

Ya hinch, I think he will be singed to EliteXC. Although I wouldn't rule out Affliction either, especially if their show comes off well. But I think EXC, with the TV deal, would be more attractive to Tito and would feed his need to self-promote.

And I was blown away when Tito slapped that triangle on Lyoto.....would have been an amazing end to that fight.

Most definitely! I thought his game plan for that fight ws solid. But not that you need some secret game plan to neutralize Tito's attack....it has ben the same for 11 years.

I wish Tito the best though and hope he can bring some goof fights to another org.

Lyoto IS brilliant technically. But to me, he's like a film with incredible cinematography that goes on for three hours with very little action. I can appreciate just how much skill and brilliance there is, but I just don't find it entertaining or exciting.

Just like the David Heath fight, you could put together an awesome 60 second highlight from this match where Lyoto looks like the greatest fighter in the world. Just a shame the fight was much longer than that.

Was really shcoked by Tito's triangle attempt and (for a few seconds at least) I desperately wanted him to actually win.

I appreciate Lyoto's ability to win fights, but the more fights I see with him in them, the more I want to see him knocked out. Weird huh.

UFC may not like it, but they have to give Lyoto a title shot. They can't ruin this. Either they give the shot to Evans if he wins in England or they go with Lyoto's next fight. This is the only way to avoid further messes. This is one of the benifits of having GP. The roads are maped and the winner can get a shot at the title.

Did anyone else see the ref due a ninja roll during this match!

I gotta say, I was interested in Machida before, but now, I'm a fan. I really enjoyed watching him fight in this match, and think he is worthy of a title shot.
Also, as impressed as I was with Tito slapping on that triangle, I was as impressed with Machida slipping out of it. Dude is an interesting fighter - I will be watching and interested for his next fight.

Anyone got a .gif of the ref?

I do most definitely agree. I ceased to look at what he doesn't do and focus on what he does, the feigns, his footwork, elusive movement and stuff. Needless to say I was massively impressed.

I do hear what Mellish said though, a bit more killer instinct would have been nice..

And oh, Lavigne is one of my favourite refs and his backflip was great fun :).

Fielding,
I kinda like long beatiful films with no action at all. I am a big fan of Jacques Rivette and some his films are really long:)

This fight actually swayed me a lot on Machida and I was just marvelling over how Tito couldn't hit him at all for the first two rounds. The fact that Tito was catching him inside the clinch a lot in the third though suggests that someone like Rampage or even Forrest might have some more success with Lyoto. Good fight though I thought.

I want to see Lyoto vs Wanderlei

Let's see what will happen then. If Lyoto gets KO'd its another awesome win for Wanderlei. If Lyoto wins he sure as hell deserves to fight the winner of Page - Forrest or he should fight Chuck.

That about sums up my feels here. I kinda feel cheated that I didn't bag on Ryoto at all leading up to the fight, and was hoping to see something along the lines of the Soko fight.

When the main two topics talked about by fans after the fight are the losers sub attempt and the ref falling over, it doesn't say much for the entertainment level. I reLLY DON'T THINK dANA WILL BE IN ANY RUSH TO GIVE HIM A TITLE SHOT. God I hate caps lock...but I am too lazy to re-write that.

or he should fight Chuck.

Chuck is best when going backwards, but Ryoto has no forwards.

Yep....and Chuck is not exactly fast enough to keep up with that IMO.

Chuck vs. Lyoto would be the most boring fight to watch.
Counter striker, and very ELUSIVE Machida.

Lyoto deserves a title shot against Rampage/Forrest.
There is no other contender currently.

I disagree, he needs one more fight against a true top contender. You can not count Ortiz as a top contender at the moment.

I say Thiago Silva vs Lyoto for the no.1 contender.

I don't know that Thiago Silva has done enough to earn a title shot yet. Machida is putting away big name opponents. Silva is putting away no-names and Houston Alexander...

.. not to mention he nearly got his ass KO'd by a UFC newcomer last weekend. Thiago Silva isn't deserving of No. 1 contender status yet.

I havenīt seen Machida putting away that many big opponents so far - but sure, sokodjou was an impressive victory. I still want to see more from him before he gets a title-shot and I donīt want to wait until Griffin - Quinton has fought to see him fight again.

Well Machida was an inch away from beeing submitted by Tito. And Fedor was one fish-step from losing to Fujita.. Silva won - and he won convincing, eventhough he looked bad for a short moment.
