It should be illegal to match up Oyama against heavyweights.
Whatever talent he has is being wasted.

^^

Couldn`t agree more. He should be fighting MW to LHW at the most. Anyone over 205lb against him really should need at least one arm tied down. lol

i see a lot of laying&praying in this fight, and valentijn's win by jd...
btw he (v.o.) fought in karlovac, croatia last month*** and he was beaten badly by local boy kresimir bogdanovic, and also he suffered a leg (knee???) injury

edit*** - not last month, but march 11th!!!

And he's fighting just 15 days later? What a nutcase. Maybe Oyama actually has a decent chance then.

Was the Bogdanovic fight under MMA rules? How good is Bogdanovic? I get the feeling I've heard his name mentioned before.

fight was under MMA rules (aka Pride rules), and Bogdanovic a few years ago was a huge potential, but life took him away from professional ring (i meant his job and his family - he wasn't in jail or shit like that).... and he recieve some offers after the overeem fight, but he said that he'll think about that....

here's more about the fight:

9. Kresimir Bogdanovic (CRO) vs. Valenijn Overeem (HOL) – MMA

The surprise of the night came at the hands of a Croatian fighter Kresimir Bogdanovic who succeeded in beating the MMA legend Valenijn Overeem.
The match began with both fighters starting out cautiously, circling the ring, and after Overeem’s attack, Bogdanovic countered with a left hook which sent Overeem to the floor. Bogddanovic went in after him and started finishing with strikes which led Overeem to turn on his stomach and shortly afterwards tap out due to strikes to the head. The surprising victory got the crowd up on their feet and marked the gallant conclusion of the well done fight night. (by Gordan Balenovic)

Ha, don't know if I'd call Overeem a legend, maybe he was borderline top ten back when he beat Couture and got to the Rngs tourney finals.

Overeem Had So Much Talent But It Seems He Never Really Adjusted To Regular MMA Rules Since He Was Used To RINGS Rules. Oyama Has Just Suffered From Horrible Matchmaking. If Oyama Can Keep It Standing He'll Get The Knockout, If It Hits The Ground Either Fighter Can Get The Submission.
